he's finally updated his thread on the register, so here is the "official" update. pics and words by the man himself

Catch up time again.

So after the filling and blocking, the car was painted again in etch primer, followed by high build primer. It was then mounted on a chassis tilter.


Did the last bits of welding to the underside of the car- making and fitting retainers for the petrol pipes. And the Legend GT Matt popped along to help out!


Then we painted the underside with etch primer and applied liberal amounts of seam sealer where necessary.


And applied this stuff once the etch and seam sealer was dry.

Its blo*dy good stuff being OEM and overpaintable too, but boy do you pay for it -nearly £40 for a litre....


Nice though.

Back on its wheels and strip the new wings and bonnet.

Etch and high build the wings and bonnet.

Then applied a guide coat and block sanded the primer ready for a few coats of colour tinted surfacer.




Guide coat and blocked the surfacer ready to receive the top coats of metallic base topped with lacquer.








Yum.

Left the paint to cure for a few days before colour sanding and buffing.

he's now also got the headlining and glass in, and it's ready for me to go pick it up. woooo!

What bladdy colour is it not obvious! Well to me it isn't.

There's blue paint on one of the walls prior to the B+W pics

But it looks like someone has sprayed a piece of paper taped to the wall to use as a swatch to show the customer the colour against his nearby rolling shell... Looks fresh too..........

Nope, he hasn't sent me a piece of paper with the colour on. I haven't actually seen it yet! Need to get a trailer from somewhere. The one I used to take it up is booked up for weeks

Don't think they ever made them in Rocco form Nate but correct me if I'm wrong?

I thought it was Polo 1.4 which are few and far between these days.

I saw one before Xmas down Rhubarb land when I went down to pick up my Cossie.

Can't remember what year it was may be Rhubarb can remember?

Lots of peoplen have done their own harlequin resprays on all sorts of vws. Not seen a Rocco yet though, but i bet someone somewhere has.


Got a trailer booked today. Picking it up at the weekend. Yay!
