I filled the Tiguan up again last night with E5 on the way home. The price has gone up again £151.9p/ltr. The performance seems slightly better but nothing to rave about. Stick a bit of methanol in there…..it’ll go even better….😂 Are you suggesting your Swan Vestas again chip.

Had the vehicle three months on Xmas Eve. Some of you may know that I traded in my old 2004 Mondeo ST220 which went into a local Auction house not far away from the VW Dealer I bought the Tiguan from. I've since found out it was bought by a Trader from over the water in NI and has since been sold for a fair amount more than it would in England which surprised me as I know that vehicle excise duty is far more expensive based on various factors which I am not 100% familiar with. Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) calculator IIRC. Anyway somebody has got a decent motor but paid far more than in this country.

I'm not sure about that, Nobster. As far as I know the rules in NI are similar to England. I can tell you for definate that VRT (Vehicle registration Tax) applies in the republic. There are some strange "practices" around the border so don't blame yourself if you don't understand, I don't either!

Not hard when your getting on a bit.

Over the last couple of days I keep getting an Inspection and oil service due in 29 days and counting down every day on the graphic info display. I'll have to find out the cost of this and ask what they do for the money when I book it in?

Make sure the reset proceedure was done correctly as we've found similar only a few months after being serviced It was last serviced by VW on the 18/03/2021 at 6118 miles and received a used car MPC ( "Used Car Multi Point Check") at 8269 a few days before I bought the vehicle last October. It's now done 10700 miles. No service books as such these days all kept by VW on their Database but I asked for a Service History Certificate (which I have) prior to purchasing the vehicle. It's Service Schedule is Flexible according to the Service History Certificate.

How longs the warranty?
Kinda got you by the balls - I'm surprised you didn't negotiate a free first service?

Kinda got you by the balls - I'm surprised you didn't negotiate a free first service? Two years from purchase date plus two years free MOT'S. I could have it serviced outside the VW network but I'm sticking to VW servicing whilst in the warranty period to stop any arguments that may happen if I where to have any servicing outside the VW network. With regard to the manufacturer’s warranty that comes with a car when it’s new. Block Exemption allows you to have a car that’s under warranty serviced by an independent garage provided it adheres to the car maker’s servicing schedule and uses genuine parts. However it doesn’t apply to the extended warranties offered by many car makers so it can be stipulated in the terms and conditions for these that the car must be serviced by a franchised dealer. Does that make sense. After my two year VW warranty has expired (October 2023) I'll revert to my usual garage.
