Just a heads up for anybody heading North of junction 21 on the M6. There are ten miles of road works both sides as this part of the Motorway is being turned into a Smart Motorway. 50 limit and cameras. From just past junction 21A to junction 26 turn off. Due to be finished I believe in the Spring of 2023. We came home from Blackpool last night via the M55,M6,M61 and cut through towards Tyldesley, Atherton, Leigh that way home. It was chucking it down coming home and a tad windy walking along the sea front. A nice fish and chip tea near the Central car park.

We had 2 years of the same nonsense when they did the M23 next to Gatwick

According to the BBC news (teletext service), the govt are reviewing the plans on smart motorways because of the use of the hard shoulder. Cited as being the cause of accidents. However the DoT are stil presssing ahead... Beggars belief really as to the direction this country is going...

Biden and his 5 planes and 85 vehicles to attend a save the planet meeting and go to sleep..Whilst concreting over Britains green belt with new houses using conventional methods not eco ones. And can't afford to update the Victorian drainage system, so we'll let the sewage into the sea..Oh lets build some more houses instead. Where's Guy Fawkes when you need him

I have a cunning plan:-
Use the current 3 lanes until traffic becomes so dense as the hardshoulder is necessary?
I have a cunning plan (part 2):-
Fine the fuckers sitting in lane 3 (of 4) for miles and miles without overtaking anything in lane 2? 3rd offence impound their car at their cost for 1 week as well as a one week ban.

New laws introduced in 2013 give police officers the power to hand out on the spot fines of £100 and three penalty points meaning failing to keep left on the motorway could hit you in the pocket.

I drove down and back last week to see my daughter and grankids....in Northampton, Lots of motorists sitting in the middle or outside lanes...not a bobby in sight....
Not sure if the 'highway traffic officers' have the same powers as the police, but I do know they can pull you over....
Same with roadworks, often see 50 mph signs where work is in progress, but no-one actually taking notice, folk jusy blindly ignoring signage....

Highways traffic officers have no powers to stop or search your vehicle. Traffic officers can pass details to the police if they witness dangerous driving or other offences. However I understand Government Ministers are looking at expanding the role of traffic officers where they could be given powers to deal with common offences such as speeding and drivers using their mobile phone. Traffic officers have the power to stop and direct traffic. Ignoring a traffic officer who orders you to stop is an offence and could result in a £1,000 fine. It could also mean points on your driving licence or even disqualification. Yes there has been a reduction in police numbers across the board.

That's why the powers that be make a fortune from speed cameras and average speed cameras.

You have to be aware that the vehicles you are undertaking (where appropriate) are concentrating and are aware what is around them on both sides. Sadly some are not.

First problem with the new Tiguan has cropped up. Nothing major but the TPMS light came on again this evening coming home(second time in just over a week). It's telling me the rear n/s tyre has lost pressure so after having checked it it's lost 2psi again same as last time. Last time I checked all four and blew the n/s one back up to the required pressure and reset the TPMS system light nothing obvious I could see. I'm going to see my tyre fella on Monday and see if I have a slow puncture or something else a miss. Nothing obvious when I checked over the whole tyre. TPMS light still on not blew the tyre up the 2 psi this time as I'm going to check the tyre pressure in the morning and Monday see if it's lost anymore?

Got a valve key? Nip it up. Or a leak on the tyre bead.

I can help with a gall of 5* and a box of SV.... ( jeez I ought to stop posting this sort of crap or I'll be getting a rep as an arsonist... ) Is the tpms passive or active on yours? My Passat is based on angular velocity read by the abs sensors... what a pos!
