That guy has more scopes than me ! I see max V input of 400V on the scope that's really good - if true and not (if you use a 1x100 attenuator!). Also 1000s/div.
Anyway, I don't need another one, nope, absolutely no... I've already got three on the go!!! I like "all in one" scopemeters though as it just takes too long setting up pico (although they are awesome in a workshop where you have more time to experiment) when you work from a roadside van for quick simple yes/no testing 2 channels are about right for what I need (relative compression ,network data and engine sensors mostly) The signal generator might be an interesting addition though, It would save me having to carry a sensor simulator!!

Not really "in anger" just yet.
Compared to other tools I have had to set-up recently, it was a cinch to just load it onto another laptop that is a bit lighter than my old Dell. This means I still have the old VCDS system for jobs where I don't mind lugging the mass around, and where an 11hour lifespan might be needed.
The HP Pavilion that now has the new VCDS HEX-NET associated with it, as my main VCDS machine now, only has a lifetime of around 3hours, but that is fine for most of my work.
What struck me was how easy it was to register the new HEX-NET such that it was fully unlocked and ready to go as a pro. There was a heart-stopping 40mins before the registration Email came back, plus all the worries "Did I put the wrong Email address in? It didn't ask for confirmation!"
Anyway, I tested the system on the old Fabia; I needed to scan this one to see if it could throw any light on the ABS lamp illuminating briefly during a journey last week. It was "business as usual", same-old VCDS (reliable.......) and it proved it was all working. Unfortunately, this will not show its new speed advantages off, in the same way as a CAN-gateway VW-group product of-recent.
WiFi - wise, I haven't set that side of it up yet, as I don't run WiFi in the workshop.
AccessPoint - wise, I want to try and get that side of it working, but the Ross-Tech website is a mobius-loop of links, all suggesting the "Mobile" software is but a click away, yet never quite getting there......!!! So, I still need to find where I can download the files necessary to load onto my Linux-phone, such that I can then use the HEX-NET in AccessPoint mode, which is a big feature for me.
Rubbish website aside, I still think that the VCDS is the way all tools should be.

Another thing VCDS has going for it - is the ease you can "print reports off"...
It is doddle...
Gave up trying to print off the new Launch - just take photos of the screen with my phone.

No reports out of this tool ever made it as far as a customer.
The Autocom Cars software is ludicrously easy to get a full report, A4, PDF or print, that looks professional - and worthy of going onto the back of my main invoice and advisories pack for each customer.

That's odd I have the 906BT and I just email them to myself to attach to the invoice and file in their folder - or sometimes blue tooth to my phone's dropbox.
PDF viewer, show the report, tap the top of the screen, share, email. Does the 908 not have that - I'd be seriously T'd off if it didn't

It does sort of have that, but my software is a bit older than the one you are using. The issue was, it insisted on filing all the PDF's in the same place on an Android filing system that was opaque to external devices - it was too "closed shop" for my liking. You had to send the files elsewhere to handle them properly, whereas other tools just put them into a directory structure of your choosing - making it trivial to find them again several days, or even weeks, later. Probably the benefit of being under a proper laptop OS, rather than Android.
The report format for Autocom looks a bit smarter, and the fact that it defaults to an A4 sheet means that it dovetails better into reports. I found the Autel reports to be a bit "busy" for my customers, hence I never included them.

This sort of thing suits my OCD.

Here ya go..
Interested to hear how they compare with a proper set. Ordered. I'll let you know what we think of them. They'll certainly get lots of use here...

Anybody got a recommendation for a decent "coil on plug probe" for oscilloscopes?
I've been using an old modified relay (resistor removed) for years, but fancy a real one.
Do I just bite the bullet and buy the Pico version??

I do, but not going to help at the moment for obvious reasons. I bought one as part of my haul from Rotkee - who are the only reason I can afford my scope addiction -
rotkee.com/en/product/lx1-sensor - It is superb in clarity of signal, the only issue is securing it - it comes with a bit of double sided tape which works but I'm thinking of a suction cup.

I have been casting an eye around for something better for quite a while now, and almost convinced myself that a homemade job (just like yours!) was the best route.

Do I just bite the bullet and buy the Pico version?? I bought the picoscope COP probe (blue handle) - think I paid about £150 for it. I also got a orange handled one with no name off ebay - this works about the same (don't ask me for the link - I have had it for years). I have also got a pulse pickup for COP from an expensive aging CZ Synco timing light set - I use - this kits does diesel pulse as well by a peizo clamp that goes round the injector pipe. Not used the timing light for years thou! ----------- To be honest in reality I have not used either COP probes much.
Seen to only use an amp clamp on a scope nowadays!
Unlike wrightsparx - I seem to use other bits of kit - not just a scope (joke don't bite!)

The only trouble with mine is no protection if HT jumps into the probe and frys the scope. Date Sterl has a video on YouTube on how to make a safe capacitive probe.
