I think that they are incapable of grasping the reality of the situation, because so many have no direct experience of anything. How many of these people have ever repaired anything, or assembled anything? At least in the USA, they have a "can-do" attitude to most things in life, even if they live in a litigation-society. Life is about to become a bit more cruel for the molycoddled Brits that have been brought-up on consumerism and disposibility - they will have to "make do and mend" like generations earlier, if they want the luxuries in life.
Only yesterday - had a three year old BMW in workshop - broken locking wheel nut key (over torqued wheel bolts). Referal from tyre bay. Chap insisted I removed/replace the rear two as he needed two tyres. I asked what about the front two? He refused. I then said - what happens if you get a puncture on the front axle? He still refused based on the labour I would have charged for the extra two. This chap is school teacher - I think he is actually a head of year! Sadly he is in charge of "teaching" one of my grandchildren - nice enough chap - but can you see my point? I would decline the job,in six months time when he has a puncture it will inevitably be "all your fault". They are all the same, "Champagne lifestyles on Lemonade money" 😉

Looking for a recommendation for Terminal extractors ? I have always got by with a small cheap kit on a key ring of about a dozen - 90% of which I never use and and engineers scribe that is long, slim and pointy - that I am pretty good with. However been defeated twice recently, on injector plugs with tiny release holes. I think the key ring ones are all stamped so extractors that should be flat to each other aren't. However don't want a giant kit as no room. Any ideas or should I just get a bigger keyring kit ?

I'll have a look at the kit I have - there are around 7 "handles" with interchangeable blades for different types of connector-pin. This means that in effect you could carry just one handle and a bag of bits to go on the end of it....I think......maybe get a photo tommorow morning.
I'll be honest and say that of-recent, I have been defeated a few times on extracting connector pins, even though I think my kit should do the job. I'm starting to lose the knack of getting the right pressure in the right place, I think.....

Picked up one of these yesterday www.toolstation.com/dewalt-dcd709d2t-gb-18v-xr-brushless-compact-combi-drill/p60545I already have some DeWalt/Facom tools that use the same batteries and I'm forever needing my cordless drill at home, mostly I remember to take it home, occasionally I remember a spare battery and even have been known to take the charger as well... So for £100 I don't have to remember anything (and yes, I do have a set of drillbits at home, next to my pillar drill)
