Bit the bullet today - put an order in for a new Rosstech HEX-NET interface tool for the VW's. It will probably be a couple of days, at-least, before it comes - it will go into service straightaway.
I have no issues with my older HEX-USB+CAN, and it has done great things, faultlessly. I would have upgraded it to the HEX-V2 spec, but the additional feature of being able to run VCDS over WiFi is a clincher for me right now; I'm looking to run the VCDS Mobile app on a Linux laptop, but also this will give me the ability to get out in the field with a mobile phone to get "first-look" data before the cars come in.
I'm expecting to start seeing newer VW-group vehicles come through to me in the next year, as it has been 3years since the newer interface was introduced, but specifically there's a load of trouble round the corner with a fleet of Crafters and MAN's that were sold to an unsuspecting local outfit, and they're all going wrong (on the grapevine)......

I've had a Hex V2 from Gendan in the basket for a while but not had the demand for anything that the Autel can't handle ... so far.

I have had HEX-NET for a long while (3 years) - it will do Crafters. It was the reason I bought it. Rosstech have just released an update - I loaded it last week! From what I can see - SRI (service reset) has been vastly improved and speeded up on the new version. ----------------- As I have said loads of times before here - VAGCOM or the later VCDS has been very kind to me over the years. Super value for money - you won't be disappointed.

Yes, it's the Crafters that seem to be the final nail in the coffin for my old lead, which has been brilliant all this time. Long story short, someone (a salesman, no doubt) pulled an absolute flanker with a large fleet of vans on this Isle. Previously, local company had Transporters, loads of T5's, but they were told (if you believe this) that no new vans were coming through, so it was Crafters or nothing - then they ended-up with MAN's............
To say that these new vans were less-than-reliable, would be putting it rather too mildly. Endless emissions faults have abounded, and fleet people are looking around at diagnostic possibilities........Hobson's Choice on this fair Isle, I might like to point-out.
New lead has arrived this evening, so a grand unboxing will happen after I have complete my shop IT duties tomorrow.
EDIT : I had to stare twice at this tool from Gendan; I couldn't wait to open the case up....... two packs of Haribo treats........just like the Diagnostic Connections toolset I opened 2days ago!!! They must all come from the same factory!!!

Fancy doing a bit of NVH stuff when I can .. Ok yes just an excuse to use the scope more Thought I would cheap out to get the hang of it, found this kit on Amazon for £60 - a knock off of the STEELMAN 06600 I think - though they probably knocked it off from someone else about 50 years ago!
The idea is that you plug each of the "chassis ears" into the box and you can select which one you listen too to compare where the noise is coming from. I'm only interested in the piezo clamps with long wires on though. They are OK quality and a 3.5mm-BNC adapter or 4 and I have a cheap try out kit for noise location. Got a customer with a V8 engine noise that is going to be my guinea pig. Being able to hear which cylinder it is coming from is one thing but being able to identify which stoke it's on when it happens is another!

Have you got a link please? My head tech has an 25 year old set and we frequently use them. I wouldn't mind a cheap set as a backup

The headphone set-up, as a "first hear", might be quite useful with that kit. I have the pukka Pico bits and pieces, but 99% of the time, all you want to do is listen remotely, and just get a direction on which way the noise is coming-from.
Too much faff to glue sensors onto bodywork and suspension, and magnets never seem to be good enough. I think there's a shortage of raw materials for good magnets at the moment - something to do with a war.

Yea the Pico set up and software looks pretty complicated, I'm more thinking along the lines of what Sadel shows here for drive train as well as engine noise.
That looks pretty nice. Owon are a known manufacturer, for the money I would think it would be a safe bet.

That guy has more scopes than me ! I see max V input of 400V on the scope that's really good - if true and not (if you use a 1x100 attenuator!). Also 1000s/div.
Anyway, I don't need another one, nope, absolutely no...
