"Tyre pressure monitoring systems fitted to vehicles first registered after 1 January 2012 must be working correctly and not indicating a malfunction."

Can you MOT testers clarify something for me ta. Are all TPMS systems testable now and if a fault is found is it a fail at present or an advisory for now? Confused.com From 20th March 2013 the RfR has been ammended to read, "TPMS warning lamp inoperative has been amended to: TPMS obviously inoperative." As edgasket1967 said, applicable for vehicles first used after 01/01/2012 and having 4 or more wheels.

One of the guys failed a tow bar electrics for improper function
Went back to the trailer place, said it needed a new socket, new socket on
Back for retest, still the same?
We had an old trailer board kicking about, which when hooked up circuit proved all ok All lights working as they should
We used another vosa approved trailer socket tester ( that didn't even work at all )
A call to vosa said pass and advise
We had already failed it again ( free retest item) by this point , so had to have " another full test "

So word of warning the approved vosa trailer socket testers are junk
We can't use the trailer board as it isn't an approved bit of kit
( and the trailer socket testers must be at least 18 months old now, so no warranty )

Can you imagine it from now on? Owner plugs in and drives off get's pulled, well the socket was tested during mot recently, so it must be ok!

Am I right in thinking the test for the older 7 pin trailer socket is just for security?
I've got the socket from a trailer extension lead on the back of mine (unhooked trailer and drove off forgetting to unplug electrics, and ripped the mount off the towbar. This was all I had in the shed!) And it is cable tied on.
Pass/fail/advise?
Sent from my HTC One SV using proboards

Your socket sounds ok to me

God knows if it works or not

That goes for the vehicle lights too mate and you see plenty of those faulty too, over 18% of test failures are due to faulty lights, many people just do not check them.
