@remmi, I had a similar situation, the ch packed up at my parents, dad asked me to come and look….he thought it was the programmer, so I got a new one, fitted it all up and running…..cost me around £30… he gave me a cheque for £200! and said treat Sue to a nice meal out…. I gave him it back…. A few weeks ago mum came out of hospital, she’s 88 got senile dementia…dad wanted tv moving into conservatory….this need extra cabling for aerial, so I sorted that too….he tried to give me money….take Sue out for a meal….I refused…. Old folk need looking after in my book.. Sorry for going ot…. I did OK as a kid - I just see it as "pay back time".Did few jobs for Dad this morning (Sunday morning) - nipped to Wickes to get a few things - Dad in my face - with money! Dilemma here: Do I take it - as if I don't "the stuborn old man" will stop asking for help - (if I don't take it). I don't need the money. It would please me to "treat them". But Dad is "proud man"...
Not easy to manage...

Still got the car in bits so it might be new year before I get chance to try it out, but thanks for the opinions. It feels like this is massively overkill for the task in hand, but I'm hoping it'll be one of those moments when I ask how did I ever manage without one before. Although what this doesn't help with is bleeding motorbike brakes. Do you think it would work to get a spare cap and drill through and fit a coupling?

Yes that will work, I’ve done that a few times for the Eazibleed on non standard car and bike cylinders, have quite a collection hidden away somewhere!

Really off-topic now:
My parents still call us "The KIds" and insist on treating us when they visit.
However, I remember my Mum earnestly telling me decades ago, "You never stop worrying about your kids". I replied, "Yes Mum, but everyone is worried about your kids"

I thought it was about time I gave an update, since I've completely overhauled my brake system, fitted larger brakes on the front and in doing so I've used this thing 3 times now.
The first attempt went shockingly bad, it's also worth noting this is a Chinese copy of the Sealey product. The Sealey ones seem to be around £60-70, I paid just over £30 for this. So maybe if I'd spent the extra I wouldn't have experienced these issues.
Anyway, I struggled to get the cap to seal, so once pressure built up the cap would give out and hiss fluid. I couldn't tighten the cap further without if slipping the thread.
I returned a few days later having pondered the issues, so on a second attempt I slipped the rubber seal out of the cap on the car and added it to the cap for the bleeder. With the seal in the cap doubled up I was able to seal and tighten the cap with no issues.
So after a complete bleed and test I still wasn't 100% sure the brakes were the best they could be, hard to tell as it's a new built system with new discs and pads and I appreciate it needs to bed in, but prior to the MOT I had a 3rd attempt a week later to do a final bleed and get out any last air, which after waiting, I'd hoped may had found it's way through the system.
Even doubling up the seal now I had issues with the seal, but I was able to tighten and just about got away with it. I was mindful not to apply too much pressure, which probably slowed the bleed. I did get some more air out and things seem better now but I have to say, this wasn't the life changing experience I'd hoped for.
Thankfully as it's a copy of the sealy one and uses standard fittings I'm fairly sure I'd be able to use Sealey spare for it, so if I needed to I could get a Sealey cap which might be better. For next time I think I'm just going to try and get a few spare rubber seals.

My old easibleed used to dislodge the seal sending a stream of fluid to the ground.

I've only done this on my mk2 golf, so the reservoir is 32 years old. I need to swap a caliper on my Mk5 which is half the age so I'll see once I've done that.

Sealey fitted my Corrado without issue, they're a b*gger to bleed up with ABS, OBD1 so I don't think you can cycle the ABS pump with VCDS (very limited functions full stop TBH).
I'd look for a genuine reservoir - owners change them for discolouration with chineseum copies.....

It may be worth ensuring the reservoir top is 100% flat and no spare bits of plastic sticking up- if necessary a flat block and 320grade or similar paper will do it and may help the seal to, well, seal….

Most motorbike brake bleeding I have done from the nipple end and pushed the fluid backwards.
