I do a lot of brake bleeding - you cannot beat a pressure bleeder IMO. I started with the Sealey but when it broke I started making my own from garden sprayers. I've even made a custom fitting for the most common brake fluid reservoir we see. valhalla came up with a good "trick" for pressure brake bleeders. To keep the mess and overfilling to a minimum. Get the screw on cap adapter and put a short length of hard plastic airline into the underside - make the length of extra airline - the height you want to set level to. Fill thru this extra bit of pipe. Works a treat as long as you not got a mesh filter in the way!

I was thinking more along the lines of a mityvac or something, but as you say its not something to worry about now! Yeah sorry I wasn’t very clear- I meant I don’t have an alternative vacuum source to hand hence may as well wait for the engine to supply it! You could use the Stags running engine to provide the vacuum and a length of hose to the MGBs servo? I've heard of people testing turbo actuators off the car using this method (slave car provides the vacuum).

Thanks for all the input, looks like the Sealey (or the £32 copy) is worth the extra investment. I'm actually quite looking forward to completing this job.

Only time I use a "mityvac" for brake or clutch bleeding - is for reverse bleeding - pushing fluid from "nipple to reservoir"I remember French Car Fanatic sharing a tip where if you got stuck with a Vivaro/Master clutch that wouldn't bleed up you could take a length of screenwash tube off and use a front calliper bleed screw to reverse bleed the clutch slave! Wonder what happened to French Car Fanatic? I remember he was going back to being employed..Last logged on 2 1/2 years ago :/

I don't think he was fed up, he needed to invest in the business and all the hangers on who had freebies and cheap repairs (family) wouldn't help / invest to make it viable, so he turned the freeby tap off and went back to a main dealer. He was a nice guy, hopefully he's in a better place and one day will log in and let us know how life is treating him.

@remmi, I had a similar situation, the ch packed up at my parents, dad asked me to come and look….he thought it was the programmer, so I got a new one, fitted it all up and running…..cost me around £30… he gave me a cheque for £200! and said treat Sue to a nice meal out…. I gave him it back…. A few weeks ago mum came out of hospital, she’s 88 got senile dementia…dad wanted tv moving into conservatory….this need extra cabling for aerial, so I sorted that too….he tried to give me money….take Sue out for a meal….I refused…. Old folk need looking after in my book.. Sorry for going ot….
