Am I correct in thinking you have placed an order for one? Not just yet - I have put together a specification for the one I want (the "reserve list"), but the big issue is the justification for the business (there isn't really a justification, right now.......). It would have to be on the business, to be able to afford such a machine. I have balanced the finances and studied the options, and running costs would not be much higher than the two LR's I'm using as tow-vehicles and remote-access toolboxes right now (if either were actually on-the-road). It was a close-run thing (by around 10mins and a few stiff drinks), but the deposit stayed in my pocket.
There are only circa 2500 units from INEOS this year, and I believe they have been reserved many times over already. These are people that have the money ready-to-spend, sitting in the bank right now. I'm looking at finance, and the finance companies don't seem over-confident of "new products from unknown manufacturers".
I'm hanging-back just a little, not because I don't trust that these new vehicles will be any good or reliable, but simply there are too many risks associated with major purchases (of anything) right now - I see major trouble aheadin the UK (and the EU), and debt-exposure is not going to be a good idea, just yet. Nonetheless, it always makes good sense to leave the first 12months of production to the "early-adopters" AKA "the fall guys" when you have such an unknown entity making its debut.
That changes to anywhere between 36months and 48months for JLR products, and sometimes it just pays to wait until the warranty has sucked the issues up with those sorts of vehicles. As there is nothing I would want to buy in that range of vehicles, it becomes irrelevent - they're just not working vehicles anymore, not for this neck-of-the-woods. There are plenty around, but they stand-out a mile as being visitors/tourists behind the wheels. They're great as "lifestyle" vehicles, but I cannot even get jealous about them, as much as I try.....

Looks like the duty on "heavy oil" and "unleaded petrol" is the same from the above doc. They will somehow find someway of "taxing" traction electricity I am sure - they will loose so much revenue if they don't.

I'm in the fortunate position that I can just about afford that. Many aren't.

Very wise to hang back and see what sort of teething problems arise (They always do.) especially with a new product.

Now that its summer it'll probably last about 3-5 months. Last order was around September/October time I think. Its just about cheaper than the alternatives (electricity or digging everything up to fit an LPG tank).

How long with that last? Now that its summer it'll probably last about 3-5 months. Last order was around September/October time I think. Its just about cheaper than the alternatives (electricity or digging everything up to fit an LPG tank). That's pretty good-going, right now. I reckon there could be some people spending that on their electricity alone, just in standing charges....
£250 goes nowhere these days for firewood, not if you get it logged for delivery up in this neck of the woods. I reckon that 3-4months softwood (heating/hot-water/cooking) would run to around £700 right now, but that is going up all the time that the building industry is absorbing all the wood it can get.
Our annual firewood bill is around £1300 at the moment, but the upside is that it is the bulk of our energy bills. The electricity bills would be much lower if the standing-charge had not just skyrocketed for no good reason - what a great philosophy that is : "The less you consume, the higher your energy-rate". Someone using no electricity at-all would be looking at around £192/annum in this household........I might just go over to a PAYG slot-meter.......
This country has gone mad!!

Clearly you didn't get the Memo.... the hike in standing charges is to pay for infrastructure upgrades, such as upgrading the HV network, transformers and local distribution to cope with the expected increase in BEV's, along with the 'Goldilocks' wind farms....

I hear that the value of shoe-leather is going upwards as well......
Joking aside - Me and the Mrs. have been walking down the road to her shop a hell of a lot more, just like we did when we first impoverished ourselves by moving here. We carry everything in rucksacks and my PC-bag (I'm using the laptop most days down there), and I cannot say it isn't doing us a lot of good at the same time.
Time to hang those keys up, get on your bikes chaps, limit your usage to essential travel only, think what you can do for the war-effort.
Oh, and try not to think too much about the incompetence of those eigits in Westminster, the whole lot of them....
