A change in circumstances has me needing a scanner for my own work, I like the look of this Thinkdiag, for £150 2 years and all manufacturers and all functions it's an attractive looking package. I don't really want it on my phone though tbh, a 10" tablet would suit me better aslong as it will deffo connect to one, I can buy a 10" tablet that should be alright for the job from Argos for around £100. I need to be able to read the usual modules, also reset service lights and epb service procedures and battery management etc I was previously swaying towards this but its a lot more money tbh, the price difference would almost buy me a dewalt brushless 1/2" knocker gun www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EU-Autel-MaxiCOM-PRO-MX808-MK808-OBDII-OBD2-Full-System-Diagnostic-Reset-Scanner/254181312064?hash=item3b2e630640:g:tMQAAOSwN8hdqBaQCertainly something to think over.

I'd be wary about using too cheap a tablet for something like running a diagnostic system as you'll need plenty of processing power and internal storage. If your budget can stretch to a good Samsung tablet or similar that would probably be the best bet, or an iPad (but only if the software is 100% apple compatible).

Cheers Rhyds, I will have to look at better tablets, but then it may be easier to buy the Autel depending what the updates cost for it.

Cheers Rhyds, I will have to look at better tablets, but then it may be easier to buy the Autel depending what the updates cost for it. The benefit of the Autel (from an IT bloke perspective) is that because its designed and sold as a finished product you can complain to Autel about any issues. Putting your own setup together means you have to work through any issues yourself because the software supplier can turn around and blame your tablet, while your tablet supplier can blame the software supplier.
