Ive suspected my sons MK6 Fiesta has warped discs for a while, as it has what I call a wobble under certain conditions, but it doesnt do the usual "Surging" as i describe it, when it pulls up at junctions. The front road wheels are balanced, they sit flat (as I can see) on the hubs (no rust/dirt on hub or wheel face). Tonight he returned home after having had to brake heavily at speed on the motorway , and mentioned he felt a strong Judder through the steering. Is first port call to replace discs and pads as a starting point. We fitted a set of second hand Fiesta Zetec S alloys earlier this year, and at first I suspected one or more wheels may be out of true, but I watched the bloke at KWIK FIT balance the fronts last month and they balanced fine. Its also had the eibach spring kit fitted by a proffesional mechanic, so I do expect the ride to be firmer and feel the poor road surface more than it used to, its very sure footed on twisty roads and feels "tight" and not sloppy so in my vey humble opinion it may not be bushes/play etc etc

A seized caliper piston or a seized caliper sliding pin will result in uneven forces being applied to each side of the brake disc. Suspension bushes ie tired TCA or anti-roll bar bushes could be the cause due to more stress on the suspension with the stiffer set up.

Great info Mate, thanks, Ill put a set of new Discs and pads on as a matter of course, as they are 10 years old anyway, and at the same time inspect and clean/grease the calipers.
Thanks again!!!

Call to your local friendly mot centre and ask them to check the brakes in the brake rollers, should easily show up a warp disc, in my time I have known 20kgf+ fluctuation cause judder.
When you change your brakes make sure the hub is spotless before fitting the disc.

New discs and pads getting fitted next week, Whats your proffesional opinions on brands, PAGID are £15 at Halfords and slightly dearer at the factors. gen FORD are too dear, not wanting to scrimp on braking products however.

Pagid should be fine, I would also consider mintex, apec, brakeworld, drivetec.

It's down to personnel preferences. Personally not keen on Pagid stuff. Much prefer Mintex or Bosch,Ferodo. I had new Bosch discs and pads on my ST220 and I've had them on other motors as well I've owned. You pays your money and makes your choice.

Trust me I am no fan of europooh...
But we have fitted tons of Pagid brakes at our workshop, with no problems!

One of my Landies gets quite bad judder, but only after prolonged and repetitive braking. For 90% of the time it's fine though. I wonder if some discs, once they've warped, go more out of true as they warm up and expand. I think the fact the cross drillings kept filling with mud didn't help!

In which case it is very common, and the fix is dead easy.
