I thought I would start a new thread as the old thread hasn't been touched for some time now. So how is everybody's Fleet doing any changes or proposed purchases anytime soon.

My 1998 1.8 zetec elderly Ford Focus refuses to die
Best car I've ever had , had 9 years
And spent hardly anything
Did the clutch a few years ago and replaced the exhaust that's been the biggest expense
Servicing cost next to nothing
Part worn tyres zero cost
Oh I have changed the timing belt when I first got it
So nearly due again, but don't think I'll change it again
It doesn't get used during the week
And did less than 3,000 miles last year
It's getting rusty underneath now too ( has been for the last few years ) the subframes and suspension components, not the floor
Generally ok just typical aged vehicle and what you'd expect for an 17/18 year old car

Golf estate has been sorned since last april.
Corrado VR6 is my current daily, new rear brakes and taper bearings, new NSF bearing, a preloved abs pump and a recon abs pedal sensor and the light now behaves as it should. Uprated headlight loom and Phillips 130% brighter bulbs and I can actually see where I'm going! Lupo wiper arms with golf aero wipers are night and day better than the originals - no judder and they actually touch the screen for the whole length of the blades.
Corrado storm remains untouched in the garage, I want to start stripping and overhauling this soon.
Her A3 has had a new rad, looking to replace the car with an A1 (her choice) or Scirocco (my choice)

Escort is sat in the garage, ready for use at any point, although I do plan to replace the front brake discs for this years show season and also renew the track control arm bushes and the front anti roll bar bushes. Will probably be fitting powerflex poly bushes.
The focus ST is still doing its job, gearbox still has a bit of a chatter at idle, goes away when the clutch is pressed, then if you let the clutch out really slowly it quite often goes quiet. Occasional slight judder on the clutch pedal too. So at some point it will get a new clutch and dmf and the gearbox repaired/checked. It got a few advisories on its last mot, rear suspension arms corroding a bit and a few other suspension components. The front wishbone rear bushes are on their last legs,(will be getting poly bushed) Bonnet is still a bit of a fiddle to open, I have the knack so haven't fixed it.
My focus is generally spot on, still has the occasional stall or the revs dip low for a second and it nearly stalls. I was looking at estates yesterday as my new bull terrier is a bit of a lunatic in the car if he spots any dogs. decided to buy a proper focus specific dog guard so once that arrives he is getting stuck in the back. £100 guard was more than I wanted to spend on a dog guard, but a dam site cheaper than buying another car.

I would still have it if my Dad hadn't gave me his 2007 focus. My old one is still going, the lad at the machine shop I use had it off me, he's put a clutch in and it appears to be serving him well.

Stu have you seen the ST focus estate sleeper ?
Think it's on piston heads forum or as such
Fella brought a smashed up ST
And puts the running gear in an mundane looking grey focus estate complete with wheel trims and tdci rear badge.

I've seen one on facebook, it had the alloys etc though. I fancied building one myself, its just the space to do it thats the issue, if I get my double garage in the next few years I could have a go.

Yes, but if you contact BBA they say they have no new spares to repair the units, they buy in and test second hand units, resolder the joints and sell with a warranty, I fitted a used pump prior to the program. I intend to open up my old unit and check for dry solder joints (I suspect there's a power supply issue as there's 8 or 10 fault codes - inlet / outlet faults on each corner), I have another spare unit on my shelves too (and two spare ABS ecus) cuz they're shit!
