Took it to a garage b4. They drove it and clearly heard the noise. Checked the engine over and said everything is as normal. Then said it could be the engine brace that is worn away or completely broke. I only no it has engine mounts not braces??? so I'm lost again as its obviously a mechanical problem engine wise because it only happens when the car is in gear and moving, which lead me to the conclusion (air intake) where there was oil.

I'm not trying to slag anyone off. They told me engine brace. Really, someone else said the last car they worked on that had an engine brace was an old style mini years ago. Don't matter anymore. Thanks you to the people that actually Tryed to help at start of thread. Yes that was me.....The old BMC Mini and the Austin 1100 series were renowned for the bushes failing, on the engine steady mounted at the side of the cylinder head, causing the engine to rock back n forth..... So, if the garage suggested that that was your issue, why didn't you ask them to show you what was faulty, and how much it was going to cost to repair.....? I don't mind helping people but they need to help us,...... with accurate information .... I hope you get sorted.....,

I asked him about this engine brace and he said it was underneath the engine.

Only makes noise when car is moving Steering is fine. No noise from that. Perfect in neutral. Happens hot and cold. Happens in every gear when revs are from around 500 to 2000rpm then stops above that. Engine oil is fine. Assuming the gearbox oil is too as it was serviced by vauxhall 2 days before buying and only had it for 6 months. Mileage Is 38,000 done 6000 in 6 months. Noise seems to be from back & bottom end of engine.

So, where is the noise from?

Is it louder when you put your foot down harder? Could be an induction/vacuum leak.

I asked him about this engine brace and he said it was underneath the engine. The brace he is talking of can only be the engine/gearbox lower mount, you should be able you to inspect the condition of the rubber bush with the car on ramps...., IMHO, the noise does not convince me that it is the brace....why? Because the noise only occurs during a certain engine/road speed.... Only makes noise when car is moving Steering is fine. No noise from that. Perfect in neutral. Happens hot and cold. Happens in every gear when revs are from around 500 to 2000rpm then stops above that. . Noise seems to be from back & bottom end of engine. Suggests gearbox/transmission problems......

I thought air intake because its a ducking noise. The noise is actually coming from the bottom end at the back of the engine. If it was gearbox issues would it not be a whineing/groining noise.

This ain't bullshit at all. Its a genuine problem I have with my car. Ive been to a few garages and they ALL leave me baffled. Problem with garages is they wont tell you right then and there even if its a common sense problem. They tell you book it in to make money out of it. Is there a way I can post a video on here?? Ive got a video with a clear sound of the noise but youtube is taking p*ss verifying it so it can be seen for some reason. I'm not messing about. Oh and before I went to any garages I looked on here first. So if your guna make stupid comments keep them to your self plz. I'm looking fir help not an argument. There not going to look at it and diagnose it for you for free Nathan ,COME ON !

And you took the air intake hose off because thats where the noise was coming from? Thats not at the bottom at the back of the engine.

Presumably you've looked at the air filter and its associated trunking for any leaks or damage? It doesn't sound like a mechanical noise.

Yeah I know that. I took it off because its a sucking noise, air intakes suck. Makes sense.
I didn't mean that's where its coming from. The noise is at the back & bottom end.
