Any series land rover driver will still think you're a Jessie though for wanting all that namby pamby safety stuff like disc brakes, a soft steering wheel and in the case of series 1 drivers; seatbelts! My pre-war Rover also has a dearth of those features you mention, plus the added "benefit" of glass that's about as "safety" as a cold-frame! So I say to those Series drivers, "You're a bunch of Jessies for having a nice strong chassis and doors that open the right way round, but if you will drive modern rubbish that's only 60-or-so years old, fine...." (I also have a nice little Srs.III tucked away in a corner somewhere). It all goes to show how relative safety can be from decade to decade. I'm a great believer in Darwin when it comes to driving. Sticking a 6" spike on the steering wheel centre boss of modern cars might a) level the field a bit, b) improve accident levels by collision avoidance (not least pedestrian safety) by around 99%.

I must point out that Lara (Croft Rover) is strictly a working vehicle, that mostly gets used to pull/push dead vehicles around on a rigid pole; Attachment Deleted

Show us your pre-war Rover, and thanks for the s.3 pic. I realised last night that I don't have any good photos of the little lady. As she is definitely work-in-progress, all the shots I have are either with her being recovered on a trailer, covered in spiders-webs, or with all of her innards spread around her. As I spent the whole Hogmanay working on her engine this year, I hoped to have some good shots there, but sadly they are just engine close-ups. So I'll organise a photo session for her, remove all the tat around the floor in front of her (RangeRover engine - kaputt, Evinrude engine - WIP, 2-post ramps - WIP) so that I can illuminate her properly. There is a video out there somewhere of her engine being fired-up for the first time in 43 years that my mate took whilst he was staying with me. It's a bit loud, as the exhaust was a bit of pipe shaped to exit just behind the front O/S wheel!
