vid.me/uS2oHi all, Would really appreciate if anyone could give me a few pointers. I own a 2010 1.0 corsa d, second owner, 31k, and since i got it, ive noticed it absoloutley drinks fuel. Im acheving no more than about 240-260 miles per tank, driving smoothly, no gear changes above 2500rpm etc, tried BP fuel, its no better. I posted on another VX forum to see what others average mileage was for this car, doing similar sort of driving ("combined"). Before i go a trip to my local mechanic, is this a sort of common problem, or what could likley problems be? I done the pedal test a night or so ago, (see link at top of thread) and i got one fault code (sorry for blurry footage), yet when i read it, i cant compare it to any fault code in a list of VX fault codes i have found online. Thanks for taking the time to read, anyone any ideas? Thanks, Michael.

We really need your actual fuel economy figures
Do you know the fuel tank size ? Could just be a small tank ?
Does it drive ok apart from this ?

I had a Corsa D in Germany as a hire car a few years back. Mixed gentle driving around town, sensible driving on the Autobahn and a high speed run from Munich to Stuttgart and it still bagged around 50mpg. Think it was a 1.2
One thing I would add is those cars have no temperature gauge. If the car isn't reaching temperature due to a duff thermostat then you have no way of readily knowing this. And that will make the car very thirsty

I'm guessing around 45 litres /10 gallons
So at that your figures do seem on the low side

In a nutshell, yes. Tour mechanic can read engine temperature with his scan tool and get a precise figure. You might notice yourself if the heater is taking a long time to heat or is only getting lukewarm. If this is so, you could take a chance and replace the stat yourself to see if that improves matters.

Well its a shame you didn't post the code...but never mind.. I'd say you have a problem...I had an early ( on a T plate) Corsa with the three pot engine and found it very economical and more lively than a later model (51 plate) my daughter had.....

If it's over fuelling you would see it on an exhaust gas sample...probably smell it too.... I'd go for Macs advice first, before the stat....

Brakes free , fuel leak, too much weight carrying, tyre pressures, roof rack ? I would expect emission warnings if you had an engine efficiency fault.

Theres a link at the top of the first post mate, or is it not working for you? Let me know I could only make out 5513, 554 or 5514, not sure which. I thought i had missed some in the video, went out and done it again and its exactly the same.

Tyre pressure is set to the recommended for fuel efficiency, no roof rack, only weight is tool bag (spark) which shouldnt be too extreme, no passangers (or rarley). Brakes may be another thing to check though, car seems to pull allright though.
