The focus has got a nice big rust spot appearing on the rear of one of the sills. Suspect that with a bit of gentle persuasion with a testing hammer, it would be a hole.
Does a claim under the corrosion warranty need the car to have a main agent history?

No but it needs the body and paint checks to have been made and stamped each year

And the corrosion normally has to be from the inside out !
Ask at an approved body shop

Some years ago I was told by a Ford fella that only certain dealers could do corrosion warranty repairs.
Routine was that a dealer who wasn't allowed do them would deny the claim and offer a quote to do the repair.
Anyhow, this fella from the authorised place took all claims without much question. Traders cars straight from the block and such.
Quite rightly so as well, 12 year body warranty should mean 12 year.
Don't know if its still the same system today but I would recommend finding the biggest dealer with a body shop and find the fella who runs it.
Make sure it isn't a Ford dealer that runs a separate body repair business from the same premises, they'll just offer you a quote, its a misleading racket.

Had a look in the book, no stamps in the bodywork bit, despite most of the servicing having been at main agent

No harm giving it a try, most dealers are booking warranty work without question these days, maybe the body shop is quiet as well..........theres very few still in existence that want to make things difficult for the remaining punters or themselves.
A thought just popped into my head, was in a Ford place this morning, discussing lay-offs and staffing levels, that air of belligerent elitism just isn't there any more, its been replaced by fear and a can-do attitude.

When I had my Focus estate it was 8 years old...
Rear door on the inner and outer seams at door bottom were going..
Full history and missing one body work inspection stamp..They weren't interested..
No harm in trying though..

what year is the focus in question. Our 02 plate 5 door had to have a patch welded on the N/S rear sill area for its MOT last year......it also looks to be developing a corrosion area on the rear O/S chassis leg.
As for the 8 year old Focus estate, I beleive and Mr B can confirm this, that there were known issues with sealant issues around the door seams on Mk1 and 1.5 cars, but we are talking a few years ago now....around the tailgate trim was another common early rust area too, especially models with the chrome trim....again some were fixed under warranty others werent....
Body inspection stamps used to be £10 extra on top of the service cost.....

Yes there's a known issue around the doors and tail gate clinched flanges
A body and paint check is too be done every two years
It's prob a ten pound charge on its own if requested
During a service it will be foc
I don't much about paint warranty, I would imagine it is difficult to prove the cause

That's unlucky as mk1 focus seem to be mostly rust free apart from the door areas and normal rot around the wheel arches My mk1 14 year old focus is rot free and I only wash it once or twice a year
