I'll be swapping the rad on my 45 soon, and need to know how strong to make the coolant. Is OAT 50/50 or less?

It will state the strength % on the bottle
50/50 is normally suitable for most
Should give around -37

I was told OATS will only register 50% on a floating ball type of anti-freeze tester, need a refractometer to check mix. Could be true. Doesn't matter with a fresh 50/50 mix but worth knowing. I'm not even sure if OATS can damage ally engines or gaskets. Could have a google and find out.
Can buy refractometer from ebay china about £15, or Sealey sell the same for about £50 last time I looked.

I bought from china, maybe two years ago, was about £15 to the door, took about a week, exactly same as sealey and others, works perfectly.
Wonder if neat OATS does only register 50% on a floaty one ? Might try one day.

No I'm sure the floaty balls will measure I never used to trust mine As it seemed to give the same reading on every car That's why I went to Reflectometer
