Hi guys Is anyone able to inform me of the procedure to install new window glass in this '96 Toyota Starlet Sportif. I bought the glass from the dealership but can't really afford to pay for installation so have to do it myself Thanks in advance.

Open the door and see if there is a screw holding the window runner in.. I've not done one of these, but if above is right then the rest will be simple

no idea mate but looking at it,roll down back window, remove the glazing bar,fit window and refit bar or if just a rubber seal, run some string round it,add bit of fairy, get someone to press against glass and pull on string to pop rubber through other side

Thanks for the responses guys
Yep "he" still has the rubber.
I'll give those options a whirl and see what happens. Will report back with the outcome

Have a look at the pic I've attached here. There's a screw in the top of the rear door at the point where the arrow is, and this screw anchors the vertical window support to the door frame. The screw will be under the rubber door seal so peal it back gently to expose it. Once the screw is out, wind the rear window down as far as it will go. Remove the rubber edging from the old broken window which is still inside the door. Be careful as it still may contain glass shards. Push the vertical support forward gently towards the door hinges and install the new window (with its own rubber) into the door frame. Centre the vertical support, refit the screw and reseat the door seal. Job OXO.

Click on thumb to enlarge Hi leew. Followed your instructions to reveal and take out the screw. However although pushing the vertical support at the top enables enough clearance for insertion of the window at the top there is little movement at the bottom as obviously the upright goes down into the door. Am I doing something wrong?

Am I doing something wrong? Not by the sounds of it, you may need to remove the door panel and loosen the fixing that holds the upright rail into the door to give you a bit more movement to get the glass in

I've searched so many times on the internet for a Haynes manual but no luck.

I've searched so many times on the internet for a Haynes manual but no luck. I doubt there is much holding the door card on, look underneath the grab handle, usually some screws around there that get undone, maybe a screw or clip holding the window winder handle on. the door opening handle is usually a screw or 2, sometimes hidden under plastic pop off buttons. maybe a few screws around a speaker housing if fitted. then have a look round the outter edge of the panel, maybe a screw or 2 holding it on and then its just a case of levering off the door panel carefully trying not to damage the pop in clips that hold the card on

Hi Dai
Spent an hour trying to discover how to get the grab handle and winder handle off. There are no pop off plastic buttons so everything must lever off. Tried this but nothing would give without damage. There must be a technique to it which I don't posses.
Any ideas?

There'll be a horseshoe-type clip on the rear of the winder - a long nose plies or spring hook will get it off. Unless I'm really mistaken, the handle will be screwed on somehow so there has to be concealed or recessed screws somewhere.
Surpirsed that the you couldn't get the glass in with just the top screw out. I've done a few small Jap cars doing exactly as I've said above without having to remove the door card.
