Hi all
I have a Skoda Roomster 2010 1.5 Diesel. Just bought it.
Guy said it had 2 injectors and the car failed straight away and I had another injector changed.
Garage won't diagnose anymore but the car won't make more that 3000rpm. At 3000rpm is feels like it's hitting the rev limiter.
I've diagnosed several things it could be and replaced the fuel filter but still not sure what it might be.
Great little car, don't want to give up on it.
Wonder if anyone has any ideas?
Thanks, Justin

You need to clarify which engine, TDis came in 1.2, 1.4 3 cylinder, 1.6, 1.9 4 cylinder, not 1.5

Start with basics….fuel pressure, air filter clean….look at live data, fuel rail pressures, boost pressure, is the turbo actuator free?

Those 1.6 injectors are pretty troublesome
Sounds like the repairs have turned sour and the previous owner ran out of money Or will to see it though to the end
Difficult to advise really apart from starting again
With somewhere used to diagnosing these
But youlll need to pay out for at least another couple o hours testing . Not just a code read

Sounds like it is hitting the rev-limiter; if the cutoff is that hard, it isn't a mechanical fault that is giving the symptom, it's an engine-management "soft" limp-home.
That is the good news. It's vital to get a scan on this car for all engine-management faults, and get them recorded and cleared. Then see what comes back. It should take around 30mins to find all you need to find.
As the car is likely to have a DPF exhaust system fitted, it's most likely to have a soft limp-home on an airpath fault. That is, something has gone wrong with exhaust gas recirculation or mass-airflow / boost / air-temp metering. Only a diagnostic scan will tell you what this is.
If it is the former, and depending on what engine you have under the bonnet, then this could be a typical sort of failure - EGR valve sticking. If I was a betting-man, this is a CAYC diesel, and the EGR assembly can be had for under £200 these days, as almost everyone out there in the aftermarket parts production is refurbishing and knocking these EGR+cooler assemblies out.

Ah, that's splendid, thanks. I'll try to get a localish garage on-board with this.

That's a good idea, I'll try it Plug it in with a scan tool - see what error codes logged - see what live data is showing when it bumps into "limp".

Will it rev more freely with the MAF unplugged ? I was aware that someone had tried to change the air filter and failed, the screws are rusty. I'll try to complete the job and try unplugging the MAF and see what happens.

I changed the air filter and checked the MAF sensor. I expect the local garage don't have the diagnostic. I'll get in touch with another garage monday and see if I can get it checked over.

Oh, I forgot to say that it didn't make any difference to the issue.
