Hi All, New to the forum, I'm after some help regarding a ticking noise coming from my 200 series. I picked up the car from an auction, noticed a slight ticking noise when the car started which gets louder as the revs are increased I went through the service manual and used tech stream. - the injector values were fine. Then I did a cylinder shutdown test - I noticed the ticking reduced considerably when I shut off #8, however the ticking was still slightly there Here is a video of the ticking - youtu.be/MuRo9vBJHvYI went ahead and changed #8 injector - when I started the car the ticking was still there, if not even a little louder than before. Any suggestions as to what it may be will be of great help Some info of the car; 2010 - 200 Series 4.5TD - 1VDFTV 340k kms Thanks!

I know exactly what that'll be... It'll be the reason it was sold at auction.
If the ticking goes away with no load on that cylinder but is worse with a new injector, which is working more efficiently than the old one, it's likely a mechanical issue - which is the reason it was sold at auction.

The first thing to check would be if there is any leakage around the exhaust manifold branch to that affected cylinder - this will often manifest itself as a "tick".
However, as OldGit says, this vehicle did not end-up at auction for no reason. At 340k km on a Toyota engine, even fair wear-and-tear is likely to lead to commensurate wear in piston skirts and gudgeon (little-end) bearings.
Rule-out the cheap and easy stuff first, but you may have to live with this until it's time to scrap the vehicle. These vehicles have a good reliability record, but they are no Volvo for high mileages.

Listening to the video, it sounds a mechanical knock to me.
