Car has covered 50k. Strange one here, I know these have a habit of the water pump impeller spinning on the pump shaft requiring a new pump. The problem I’m having is the car is heating up and heaters working fine but the small pipe going to the coolant tank, from the thermostat there is nothing coming out of it and the coolant tank staying cold. Normally I’d say the pump, but the heaters are working fine, so pump must be working?
before I check and take the terribly designed, prone to breaking, plastic pipe off from the stat to the coolant tank to check for a blockage, is there any other issues known on these to cause no flow through return pipe?

Before you remove the pipe, have you tried blowing down it ?

Not yet, will try though I’ve had it off from the header tank side but not the stat as I’ve a feeling that is the side that will snap due to more heating, cooling fatigue.

Should be ok
Just a bit of care in this temperature
I always spray a bit of lube on first
I cracked one of these just the other day
Whilst changing the EGR and cooler
Another common place to leak

If you are worried it will snap
You could see if if holds a vacuum
But it’s very common for the pump drive to spin on the shaft

I’ve already had it out of the header tank, just not the thermostat housing end. Just seems odd there is no flow through it but the heaters are working fine so the water pump must be working?

Using a hand vac pump
But probably just easier to remove and blow though

Using a hand vac pump But probably just easier to remove and blow though Just to update the pipe was blocked, blew threw with air line and still a bit blocked but some movement. Ordered both new and going to change the pair of them. Thanks for the help
