Roverman What year is your Range Rover P38 as IIRC there is two synchronisation procedures depending on the year of Manufacture. One for up to 1997 the other one after 1997. I'll see if I can find the link for you. P4 I'm not familiar with sorry. Never been in one wasn't born when they started making them and only a youngster when they stopped in the mid 1960's was it?

Hi Noberator The Range Rover is a 1996 P38 A, I have all the information regarding the door lock syn and the code for engine immobilizer, but I think the circuit board in the fob as packed in and I only have one key I am in touch with a key fob specialist for Range Rovers so hoping he can sort it out & supply a spare key, Has for the P4s I am from the old school now being 86 years of age when we didn't have computers and diagnostics so I am really at home looking after these 60 year old cars But there is a notice on my garage door that reads dads service and repair garage open when I feel like it . I will keep you informed

Hi Roverman,
The key-fob failure might just be the tiny surface-mount aerial on the circuitboard. These drop off the circuitboard if the key-fob is knocked or dropped, and they are a dead-easy fix to resolder the aerial to the board - assuming you catch the little rectangular item as you open the fob right up. A clue that this might be the culprit is if you get a little rattle when you shake the fob, but of-course you need to have the little aerial still loose inside the fob to hear this!
A very easy fix for a key-fob specialist, or anyone with a small-tip soldering iron and some solder.

Hi Valhalla When I checked the key fob batteries I noticed the connection from under the battery that goes through the hole in the round battery retainer and down the side of the retainer to connect to the circuit board was broken in two, I made a new connecter from some shim steel and thought that would solve the problem, but no after putting in the EKA code the message center is still coming up with key battery low even though the batteries are testing out at well over 3 volts each ? I have still a lot to learn about these range rovers can't beat my old P4s there from my time as a mechanic
