A friend called to visit yesterday and said the car was blowing out cold air even with the selector on Hi. On checking I discovered that heater output was as it should be on passenger side - responded to selector etc. If the problem was the other way around she could manage - but the recent drop in temp has brought the problem to a head. I have visited a few forums but as many of them are in the USA it gets a bit confusing. The car is a 2007 Santa Fe auto with 2.2 dsl engine. It would appear that there is a blending motor/actuator on each side of the heater matrix and alsso a flap motor ? I would appreciate any advice/help from the forum as to the likely cause of this problem and what part(s) might need to be replaced.

Surprised it took her so long to realise the driver's side was only blowing cold.....
Anyway, yes, there are two blender motors, one each side of the heater unit, and the very first thing to do is to make sure that the blender-door and its camshaft is free to move. If free, then it's almost certain that the motor is the part at fault, and that is the part to source here. It is less likely there is a control issue from the climate module or the selector control for temperature. Somewhere in the past, I have seen a TSB on this problem, but I'm not sure where it was. It might be worth doing a search for Hyundai and Santa Fe heater problems; see what pops-up.
Obviously, if the whole flap mechanism is not free, then that is where the work should concentrate...... It is "blend-door-sticking" that I think I saw a TSB.

Thank you for reply - now I can go about sorting the problem. When I contact the dealer will know what I'm looking for
