After a bit of asking around / internet research (gave up before I lost the will to click 'next page') I got some 'TechniQ Thunder Grey Gloss' which looked to be a close match to the body panels - except it wasn't. It looks more Bronze/Gold... To be fair, they did send me another can - same again, I also sprayed on a bit of clean steel to see if it was the caliper reacting somehow - it wasn't.
Now I can find any number of grey caliper paint, in pretty much any finish - except metallic gloss, which is what I'm after. Well, I can find it in brush-on, not spray, we don't have a bodyshop and I don't have any spray equipment... Any ideas? realistically it only needs to be able to withstand 150-200deg. C. Or am I best just going for a solid colour...

I have never painted a brake caliper in my life!
I have blasted a few motorbike ones to clean them up but that is about it.

I have only done them in a solid colour - my reckoning being that if I have the sort of friends that peer through my wheels, then it's time to get new friends, and much easier..... 
In every case, I have bought solid stove-enamel off the shelf, reasoning that it will a) be heat-resistant and hard-wearing and b) easy to apply by a small brush. Downside is that it generally is a little thin, so may need a couple of coats to get a perfect coverage
The last major thing I painted was an Optimus 2-burner stove, and that used all my mid-green enamel that had served me so well over the years. It wasn't the right colour for either calipers or stove, but I have no friends.....

The reason for painting is that the front ones at least were painted from factory and were looking a bit tatty with wheel acid burns/streaks on them. I'd rather use spray paint as I've seen some ropey looking DIY paint jobs with runs and brush bristles stuck in the paint....

I always brush paint calipers with high temperature paint mostly silver, I think they look great, but they are all classic cars  |

I used Blue Hammerite Smooth on the front calipers of our Fiesta with good results…been over a yr now since I did them…
Shot ( well glass beads..)blasted them first to rid the rusty bits, then sprayed with thinned paint.
No signs of blistering or anything….we’ll it ain’t no Formula 1 race car is it?

Tried metallic grey caliper paint, got gold instead. No metallic grey spray found, only brush-on (no equipment). Need paint for 150-200°C. ♀️ Options: Rock the gold! Thin brush-on paint for spraying (risky!). Try similar metallic grey spray. Go pro at a body shop. Safety first! Good luck! |
