Question, if the unmentionable did happen would you replace like for like or buy a lesser make and pocket the rest? When I started the choice was Britool or Snap-on, all the other tool makes were pretty much crap. the Snap-on man did credit(poor wages) so that's why I have mostly Snap-On as for now the quality of tools is far better so I would have no issue with other brands and own many other brands.

That's the answer I was expecting tbh

Question, if the unmentionable did happen would you replace like for like or buy a lesser make and pocket the rest? Like-for-like, although a lot of mine are no longer made / redesigned to be worse. Everything I have is bought for it's cost/benefit, I don't think I've ever bought a full 'rail' of sockets, just the ones I need - 23mm double-hex deep impact for example! There's some of it I could now do without, but not much.
Very little of mine is Snap-On, mainly Britool/Facom/Gedore and a few odd MAC hand tools with some specialist brands like Knipex, Fluke etc. There is probably 40% of my 'investment' in electronics, the rest is hand & power tools (inc. air) and storage - no big MAC or Snap-On box though, mines a Costco one with a Sealey side cab (bought damaged) and a Facom roller cab (bought for less than 1/2 price in a closing down sale) and a metal COSHH type double door cabinet that was being thrown out unused (wrong colour!)

The SGS stuff seems to be reasonable quality, some of the sizes are odd though. A couple of lads at work have their cabinets and seem happy with it. One of my/our worries is that we end up with one of the workshop refurbs where they provide regimented storage (no 'extras' allowed, not even trollies!), firstly, there's no way I'd get all my kit to fit, secondly, especially for the 'bought a Snap-On toolbox, well, I will once I've paid for it in 12 years time' lads, the temptation will be to trade it in, pay the remaining finance off, then move jobs - where you need a toolbox again - or have it rusting away in your shed 'just in case'....

I think I looked at SGS to replace the utter sh**e that I have as my main cabinet at the moment. Anything could be better than that particular unit. Even my Clarke cabinet on the back ramps is 100x better.
The SGS looks good in the catalogues, so it's great to get honest reviews from real users. It's not a bad price, at the end of the day, and my main problem is getting it up here!

The SGS looks very shallow to me, the drawers seem to stand up well - but I'm not the one using it. The top needs some protection too, maybe a cut-down kitchen worktop?
Have you tried a quote on Shiply?

I don't even lock my toolboxes - I doubt if I could find the keys even if I wanted too... Guess they are duct taped inside them when bottom drawers were out. Both my big tall boxes are nailed to the wall behind them - M12 chemi anchors - drawers taken out and backs drilled at the top - with multiple huge penny washer . Not so much for theft - I once had lots of drawers open in the tall one - and then it started tipping - rest of the drawers started opening. I was nearly crushed alive my my own tool box. I got lots of tool boxes - none were new to me - I have only ever bought used boxes. ------- I have this year commissioned - a key drop safe for storing customers keys - this is nailed to the floor with chemi anchors (plus I painted it to match my toolboxes)
