I carried out an engine oil change a few weeks ago on my 2006 Citroen C1 oil used was Mannol ENERGY 5w30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil SL/CF ACEA A3/B4, checking the manual and online sources state that the engine oil should be 5w30 with a specification of ACEA C2. Is this a problem and needs replacing?

Depends on the engine, for a 1.0l Castrol list 0W30 C2 with 5W30 C2 or 10W40 A3/B4 as alternatives. For 1.4 they list 5W40 C3 with 0W30 C2 or 0W30 D as alternatives. These are current recommendations, the printed manual will state what was best 'at the time of printing' so has likely been superseded. Personally I'd go with the later recommendation and do an oil & filter change - consider it an oil flush... any remnants won't do any harm.

All depends on whether this is a diesel-engine, and whether you have an early DPF application on this car or not. If there's no DPF, you are probably fine with your existing oil - the ACEA C2 would be there to cover low-ash for DPF protection.

Hello, I had the same situation as you on the Polo TDI 3 cylinder, instead of using Motul Specific 5W30, I used Noleaky High performance 5W30, because it likes to rev up with the small engine, but apparently there is no problem so far.

Noleaky!! FFS! If you follow their instructions you don't replace the oil filter........ It's a no from me • Turn off engine and let it cool for 15 minutes.
• Remove the engine oil drain plug (*Caution, engine oil can be very hot! Use an approved oil collection tray under the oil pan to hold the used oil. Let oil drain for 10 minutes).
• Replace to oil drain plug back into the oil pan and wipe clean.
• Using a funnel, add approximately ½ of the new oil into the engine. Smaller engines on motorcycles and ATV's will use much less oil.
• Check the oil level by using the dipstick and add a little more oil at a time until the dipstick shows the recommended level (this level can be found in your vehicle owners manual).
• Replace the oil filler cap and ensure it is closed properly.
• Do NOT overfill with oil! Too much oil can cause blown seals, extremely high oil pressure, carbon deposits on engine walls and catalytic converter failure.

“ Dear Mr Noleaky,
I have just performed an oil change on my prize VW Polo. I followed your instructions to the letter as depicted on the container.
I let the engine cool,I drained the existing oil off. After replacing the sump plug I proceeded to add half of the oil.
Etc etc….”
Now my engine has seized!
What should I do?
Irrespective of the make of car, I would never use anything other than the recommended grade of oil…just asking for trouble imho…unless you got loadsamoney and can afford to get a new car…

I would have put 5/30W C3 in it....
I not against Mannol products at all - I been buying odd 208ltr drum of there oil for my workshop.
Plus I bought a new Mannol oil - oil drainer/suction thing in the summer.
