Tbf I was going to catch the oil and put it back 😄 it was only put in on Sunday.
But yeah new pan, rtv, cleaning etc and labour. Old bolts would be reused.
It's been a good dv6 this, in a 2011 Berlingo, he got it at just over 100k when rust finished his Escort van. I've serviced it every year and it's now around 180k. So it does show regular ontime servicing goes a long way, well tbh it's prob had more services than required.
It sounds like there are many dv6 out there that have had a dipstick snapped in them. Lad at work looks after his mates older shape Berlingo and that's had a broken dipstick for quite a few years.

Forgot to say he hasn't refused but think will see how it goes. I not done too many 100k cambelts on these DV6 engines - they are normally dead before they got to this mileage. 180k is good one.We do a 2013 Dispatch van that has done 295000 miles - still the same turbo - but he gets us to change oil every 5000/8000 miles - I have replaced three/four wiper motors and linkages on this van - but still the same engine/turbo/injectors... --------------- Had a few sump pans off VW 1.6 & 2.0 diesels of late - they seem to have a "gritty residue" in the sump pans - like carbon bits?

Would DSG be a better option? Are the 2l any better?

Would DSG be a better option? Are the 2l any better? VAG 1.6 are bad for injectors - they are dear to replace - no real good option for recon for a stacked peizo diesel injector (none I would trust or want to sell to a retail cusotmer). Manual gearboxes seem good on these. Not seen a problem - ever! I have earned a fortune out of DSG boxes - 6speed and 7speed ones. We doing about one a week here - DMF and dual clutches... ------------ But... I personally own a VW Passat Highline estate - 2.0 CFGB diesel engine (170BHP) - six speed DSG gearbox - it has covered for a nearly an 11 year old car (12plate) - 125000miles - average mileage - with no real problems - average mileage. Worst thing that has happened to it - the rear washer pipe split in the flexi squib into rear load door and shorted out the central locking motor in the rear door <known problem>. Gearbox/engine/injectors are still intact.
Big question for me is what sort of estate car to have next? I am going to go "petrol next" - but not a TFSI VAG - they have far too many problems for me...!
I don't know what to buy next?

I don't know what to buy next? I ran in to the same issues looking for a Focus MK2 replacement. I like the MK3s and how they look and drive, except that the petrol models are mostly the 1.0 Ecoboost and I didn't fancy the combination of 3-cylinder roughness, cooling system worries and wet belt fun and games

It will be petrol - non hybrid! But at the current market prices for three year old low mileage estate cars - I just keep putting the purchase off...

Have a look at Mazda - they are one of the few manufacturers still using port injection up until very recently (now introducing compression ignition of all things).

This is why I stick with older cars - I can still fix them cheaply, and as it's easy for me to fix them, and I can still get the parts, I don't have to feel too bad at not being able to afford my new Grenadier. I spec'd the vehicle I need for the business......£62,300......
I have talked (quite seriously) to Mrs.V. about selling her off to a rich Arab sheik, but she doesn't think she would fetch that much. I'm looking around the Glen for younger wives that I can sell into perjury, but no takers yet......
