Given my search for a decent non 3-pot petrol Focus is looking a bit tricky, I've been considering going over to the 2nd Generation (2012-2019) Volvo V40, as its the same platform underneath but with a different engine choice.
To that end the two main options are
1: The 1.6 Ecoboost 4-pot in the early V40s
2: The Volvo developed VEA/VEP 1.5 litre petrol
Can anyone shed any light on either of these engine families regarding long term reliability? Its this reliability question that's putting me off the 1.0 ecoboost as I don't really want to deal with wet belts or an engine with turbo cooling lines made of plastic.
