Me again gang...I remember the rear lambda kicking out a code last year and I cleared it,so I'm guessing it might not be operating fully,as my MK1 Focus has failed it's MOT on "carbon monoxide content at idle exceeds manufacturer's specified limits"....."hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle exceeds manufacturer's specified limits"...."Exhaust Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits"...question is,are front and rear O2 sensors the same,or do they differ internally?

As chippie says the idea is the upstream Lambda is what the engine uses to actually calibrate its fuelling while the downstream lambda is only there to make sure the catalytic converter is working.
Its possible that some manufacturers use the same part for both, but most fit a better/wideband upstream and a cheaper/narrowband sensor downstream to save a few quid per car.

I've just bought an £8 front lambda....but the rear one cost £20,I was hoping to save I bought the one for £20,just incase
