Following heavy rain whilst on holiday the drivers footwell carpet is soaked. At first I thought it was due to wet shoes but Upon further investigation the soundproofing and rubber back underlay is also drenched. I've removed as much as I can to dry and then noticed water drops on the heater vents above the transmission tunnel. On removing the pollen filter, it was full of water. I have removed the cover under the windscreen wipers and there was a small amount of gunge blocking the left drainage channel. I am not convinced this was enough to cause the problem. Running the car with the fan on full water is dripping quickly onto the transmission tunnel Is this a known mk7.5 problem. A forum also suggested it could be a blocked drain pipe from the air conditioning but I doubt the volume of water would come from this. I was told the drain pipe was under the centre of the car but I can't locate it. Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like it's leaking in around the pollen filter then..
Not sure on this model but the older models had this problem..

We have had some bad rain in parts of the UK of late so have you only noticed it since the wet weather or is it just a coincidence? After you have dried out the drivers footwell area put a hosepipe around the door and scuttle area across the base of the windscreen may also help determine where the water is entering. If it’s a heater/air-conditioning fault then the carpet will become wet again in normal driving in dry weather. Have a look around the bulkhead area to see if there's any obvious holes or gaps. Also check the drivers door seal is ok.

As an update, I can confirm this problem is due to a blocked air conditioning overflow pipe. With no further rain, water started dripping from the pollen filter housing again having previously cleared it after a 20 mile drive with the aircon on. Despite my best efforts however, I cannot however locate the pipe to clear it, so it is booked in at my local dealer for next week.

Just had this fixed today at local Ford dealer, gliddon ford. Confirmed air conditioning drain cleared and exhaust heat shield repositioned to prevent further blockages. £50.
