Hi everyone just wondered if anyone has any recent feedback, or uses the mech5 diagnostic tool. It seems good value. Has it got any strengths that may fill the gaps of other generic scan tools. Seems Hickleys sell it so it must have some regard within the trade.

Hincleys - are well regarded in the trade!
I think this (Mech 5) is just another sold off version of Launch software.
We have reached the point now - where only Autel/Launch versions are viable to the aftermarket trade.

AFAIK it died a while back. came out to much hype around 2015 and possibly ran out of OPM (other peoples money) and was bought by a company called Nebula. then resold to Octo Telematics and not seen/heard of since, possibly re-sold again.
Might be resurrected or I might be completely wrong.!

I just wondered if anyone on here was using a mech5. I just thought it might fill some gaps. I know I may get booed off the forum but I use a snap on modis ultra with the 2 channel scope which I keep up to date as the go to tool. and it's done me well.Perhaps it matches my ability . I will add I am not a snap on addict,I do mainly driveability faults, servicing and mot repairs. At 67 I would like to just carry on a while longer to keep me active, although I do pick and choose jobs more. My investment in future tools is going to be limited.

Yes Peter if i can call you that being a newbie and all. Still in the trade. Started my small business in 1985 with nothing and managed to keep most of it. I have been rodgered as roughly and as regularly as any busy lady of the night by customers, businesses, banks hmrc, and others I have joint and knee problems (clicking like a maraca band first thing in the morning).if you had asked me back then I would had said I want to retire before 60. But having no hobbies as times gone on outside the job, I carry on like some punch drunk boxer.(It keeps both spirit and sense of humour alive for me)

I still have my old Snap-On MT2500 knocking around (best scan tool ever in my opinion) and an ancient Snap-On/UEi 2 channel scope If your looking for something cost effective to compliment your Modis Ultra the ThinkDiag pro is decent for a couple of hundred quid (Launch based app very good for actuator tests/special functions) FORscan is incredible value for Ford (the graphing is awesome) We also run a version of the Wurth WOW snooper with autodata tacked on/which is related to Autocom
