You need to check the wiring around the egr valve first, if the commanded position isnt fed back to the ecu, it will throw code P1405.
Did you use a branded VX replacement ?

I took it off another Corsa C. Though it had to be wired in. Wondering if the wires are wrong somewhere

Checking it now without it connected I have a mostly what I expected. 1 12v wire. 1 5v wire 2 0v wires but then I have a 3.5v wire.

There should be 5 wires,

In no particular order...
1 = 12 volt supply from ecu to coil solenoid.
2 = GND from ECU to coil solenoid
3 = 5V from ECU goes to the resistor network inside the egr valve
4 = feedback signal goes to the ecu telling it what position the valve is.....
5 = GND from ecu to resistor network in EGR...

You need to sort the wiring out....and hopefully havent damaged the ecu in the process...........

I got to be blunt here...you need 3 things when working on car electrics...
1) a decent meter (DVM)
2) a decent wiring schematic and be able to read it
3) Know what you are doing....

Its no good bumbling about like Columbo....

Oh I completely agree, the bit that confuses me is the resister part of the EGR. All 3 wires relating to the resistor area (5v, Neg, Signal) when connected is carrying 5v. Pretty sure the signal wire shouldn't be carrying 5v.



Yeah thats a video I have used. Plus about 30+ more.

I'm at the point where im thinking either the car needs a major run or the EGR is shorting across the signal wire.

Although Lt.Columbo might have appeared to be bumbling about, he was in fact exceptionally proficient at working things out!!!

His scruffy working class Italian American demeanour was basically a ruse to lure the (usuaĺly high society) guilty party into letting their guard down so that he could solve the impossible case
