This turned up today - anyone care to make a guess / know what it is? (I know what it is before any smart@rse claims I have dementia!)
The tape is over the item number just so there's no internet cheats

It’s a calibration unit for a flux capacitor from a gx60…..if I’m not mistaken..
Swap yer it for a box of Swann Vestas and a gall of 5*…….I’m into collecting useless things…,🤣🤣

Not a Jig, the 3/8" square drive may be a clue though.

Would the Swan Vestas have a single strike or a double strike strip? The gallon of 5* would probably cost more than this did!

Torque-wrench calibration aid?

It is for a torque wrench, it's a spanner adaptor to access restricted places - works great on OM654 camshaft pulley bolts where you'd have to remove the EGR cooler for access otherwise - ~2.5 hr job.
I can hear someone at the back mumbling 'huh, and how often would you have to do that?' - well, quite a lot, the roller bearings on the cam followers fail quite often.

Do you account for the additional length of the spanner?
If it is in line then I think it would be simple for example : 10cm spanner added on /1m wrench means dividing by 1.1 = reduced Nm read
However if it is not in line then looking at the rotation point of the wrench then thinking about the rotation point of the spanner might be more involved. In that case if they are moving as a single unit (which is questionable) you have to solve for the 3rd edge of a Scalene triangle - or measure it probably easier !

It's on a ratchet there but I have a solid 9x12 3/8" adapter that puts it in line so yes, the calc is fairly simple (although I do have an 'app' to do it for me) the manufacturers state that at 90 degrees there is no need to compensate but as you say, any angle in-between would need some adjustment to the torque setting of the wrench.
It's handy for those '45Nm + 90 degrees' bolts as well - you can obviously put a breaker bar onto it after doing the 45Nm.

Hmm...bit like the ol' "Crows Foot " Yes, but an adjustable one that doesn't need space for the ratchet head or the breaker bar knuckle as well.
