Why do you think general workers are starting to twitch about low pay Because it isn’t going very far £10-13 to drive a big rig for a living on long hours , often not knowing if you are gonna be home for tea When you can earn the same in easier positions Two chefs have left a local restaurant to work in supermarket - low pay and split shifts arejust some of the reasons.

Government must be starting to panic
Loads of industries asking to relax the Eu workers allowed
I expect in reality not much has changed
But simply the word brexit has put off workers who would still be here
Expect its. A simple 1 piece form to fill in
And that’s it

£12 an hour to flip burgers at McDonald’s
Or Tesco for far less stress

Some of the stories you hear about HGV driving
Long hours 15
Addition pay to stay overnight but a good % lost to actually park up somewhere safe and secure
Fear of being turned over
Pressure from your Boss if late
Waiting hours to unload the goods

A lot of restaurants are having this issue now. Folks who would have done kitchen/table staff work have suddenly realised that you can make the same or more money at a shelf stacking job without having to rely on tips or put up with the prima donna antics of a wannabe Gordon Ramsey

Doesn't seem to happen so much here on the island. Anyone DFL on hols has just paid £200+ for a ferry ticket so are introduced to the realities that way ! Thought I would go and check prices... here you go return ferry to the island in a car.
Yes, the Skye Bridge is a double-ended sword for us. No reality-check in-place for the "go ahead types" that think they can import their lifestyle into a remote part of the Highlands.
I get a lot of these sorts of people on my clientele list; they have "bought into the lifestyle" by purchasing a Landrover/Discovery/RangeRover to go with their escape to the rural idyll. Usually these are the worst for me; it comes as a shock when the "service" is a) delayed on parts b) slow (because the rest of life still has to happen here) c) expensive (because the Parts Factors need to make a profit as well, and those parts have come a long way from the depot).
I find it easier to hold my ground with this sort of client, especially when the bill starts running out-of-control, as they exercised a choice to be here, rather than just trying to make ends meet like the local youngsters.
