Hi A bit cheeky posting this up on your first post on the forum.
I've never heard of your company but see you've been operating as a limited company since 2012 and based in Macclesfield.
Disclaimer: Admin have done no thorough checks on the above company...

Hi and welcome... I am fed up running my own workshop. How much are you paying? - might come and play? I have City and Guilds - own tools - fully experienced - time served.

As an outsider (healthcare) looking in, I find the motor trade bizarre when it comes to the whole thing of providing your own tools. Even basic tools will run into the thousands and nowadays simple jobs often need special tools now which are costly enough to make your eyes water and might only be used once in a blue moon.
It’d have thought it quite a barrier to recruitment for some.
Can you imagine the army expecting potential squadies to bring their own gun and ammunition?!
Most doctors have their own stethoscope but more from tradition than necessity.

Most doctors have their own stethoscope but more from tradition than necessity. Oli In IT its all getting a bit blurred between both approaches. When user PCs were seriously expensive bits of kit then it was natural for your company to pay for and own the kit, whereas by now laptops are relatively cheap so its becoming very common for folks to want to use their own personal laptop and mobile phone rather than use a company supplied one. The issue is that with modern data privacy laws the company has to retain control of any of its data that's on employees personal devices. There are tools to handle this, however in extremis it has been known for companies to wipe users' personal devices clean when they leave the firm to ensure no company data is leaked, your holiday snaps be damned!

Can you imagine the army expecting potential squadies to bring their own gun and ammunition?! Actually that idea is not too far out. Back in the early 1960s the United Nations asked the Irish government to send peace-keeping troops to The Congo. The Irish agreed and a force was assembled. However some of the equipment they were given was very poor and stories about it were in circulation. One result was that all the kids (including me) had a rhyme that we used to chant with glee. It went something like this: Will you come to the Congo, will you come bring your own ammunition and a gun. You'll be lying in the grass with an arrow up your a** Will you come to the Congo, will you come.
