My boy bought a 2005 seat leon and he wants to put it in for a mot but as the previous owner left it sat around for about two years is it best to sort out the faults we know about or is it best to put it in for an mot. If we do put it in for an mot and they find something dangerous will they carry on with the mot.

Unless It's so dangerous it's unsafe to carry on they should continue.
Eg major fuel leak.

With no disrespect to our learned MOT testers on here, I hate the use of an MOT to determine what needs fixing on a car. It’s a “is it good enough today to pass” only and not everything is testable. If a car has stood for a while- or even if not - there is no substitute for a full and through examination by someone who knows what they’re doing and sort everything before the MOT, which should only be a confirmation of a job well done.
My score so far with my local garage since we moved here- and I prep all the cars I take for MOT first- is 39 passes out of 39. At least this way I know the car my wife, daughter or other family members drive down the motorway is as safe as possible. And I find preemptive maintenance like this ultimately costs no more than doing it when needed, once you have a car sorted for the first time.

Your quote: "And I find preemptive maintenance like this ultimately costs no more than doing it when needed, once you have a car sorted for the first time." That does make sense when you really think about it.
