Ongoing issue with a 2008 Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia Petrol.

The ‘Engine Malfunction’ and ‘Acceleration Reduced’ lights are coming on randomly. The MAF sensor was cleaned and the air filter renewed. The lights still show randomly.

The OBD code reader is showing code P0101 when the warning lights are on. No code shows when the lights are off.

Any suggestions folks? 🤔

A manufacturer specific scan tool might give you a better DTC to work with

If your EOBD tool captures "freeze frame" data post it up for us to analyse

It will give an idea what the MAF was doing comparitively when the P0101 sets

Finally use this calculator with your scantool data to see if you have a correctly reporting system

I'd not bother with a basic code reader for a Ford, just get hold of an ELM327 adaptor like this

And then download the Forscan software to a PC

That should give you live data that Tricky has (correctly) pointed out you'll need to diagnose this issue.
