Quote ex the internet
"Can I still claim for Merc/VW Emissions UK? Yes. If you have an affected vehicle, whether it was purchased new or second hand including on finance, hire purchase, personal contract purchase or leased. You can also claim if you have sold the affected vehicle, provided that you have proof of ownership/leasing."
The no fee - no win claims industry has gone wild on the internet - the last few weeks! These websites look like they are geared up well - with reg checkers and instant response to if your vehicle is affected - by "factory cheats" for emmisions.
Time to register your claim? (I own an affected VW - but I am not sure if I am going to bother?)

I cannot stand the whining that comes from these "ambulance chasing" firms.....
I consider them to be the worst example of modern litigation societies: I also blame the USA for exporting this sort of "money for nothing" industry.
I wouldn't go anywhere near any of them, just out of principle.

I cannot stand the whining that comes from these "ambulance chasing" firms..... I consider them to be the worst example of modern litigation societies: I also blame the USA for exporting this sort of "money for nothing" industry. I wouldn't go anywhere near any of them, just out of principle. This type of litigation - the business model (morals) are pretty simple really... They wait for a large industry/organisation to make a mistake - they then wait for a government (UK or Europe) to take the industry to court (gilt edge prosecution) or Government body to have a public enquiry to find a shortcoming (gilt edged findings). Then they threaten the industry/manufacturers/insurers to the single most expensive test case - needed to start the ball rolling. They may or maynot even have to fund this. The ball is rolling... They then advertise for people to register a claim - this gives their argument more weight/momentum. They then rinse the claimants for 45% of anything they get. It is well rehersed scheme - endowments - PPi - personal injury - medical negligence. ----------------------------- It does make this type of "parasite law firms" very rich. But on the flip side - it does hold larger organisations/industries to account - hit them where it hurts - their bank balance. It has also has a social impact - you get to the point where you dare not do anything - because of the fear of getting sued. These types of law firms have money - lots of money - the have power and loads of clout. This maynot be a good thing either where national policy is not being controlled by parliament but by lawyers for their own gain. It is gonna be a bad thing for the motor manufacturers - it will have a knock on effect for the motorist. Higher priced new cars. Affected used vehicles maybe subjected to reclassification of VED rates - which will in the end affect the resale value of your used car. The general public - will always put their hand out for some free money when they feel they are aggrieved - this is something I am sure of... Personally I once thought the no fee/no win thing was a good idea for the masses - now my opinion on the subject has gone the full 180 degrees in the other direction. This is normal for me - I often look at something and initially think it is a good idea and when it pans out and I see the long game effects (the bigger picture). I then change my mind and think it is a bad idea...
