Ford brakes have used 7mm keys for ages, which like 9mm ones don't turn up in most sets.

< in a squeeky Orville type voice >..... I have a 7 mm Allen key special made by Draper for Ford caliper bolts..... I've got a Laser/Draper (Can't remember who) 7mm Allen key with a plastic dipped handle. Eventually I gave up and bought an US pro allen set so I could get a socket on reluctant ones.

WAF stands for width across flats the distance between the two flats of a spanner or socket.

In truth, I've never come across a 9mm key, ever, on an automotive application - so this is just a domestic plumbing idiosyncracy?
7mm are used everywhere for caliper slider pins, and most automotive sets include 7mm.
I wish VAG had used 7mm allen's at the rear of some of their God-forsaken jalopies instead of M14 12-point splines (guess who has just had a Skoda Octavia in for rear brake discs.....)

Volvo XC60 XC90 fronts.

I have said this before - you are more articulate than I am - you have a far greater vocabulary than I do! Does me no harm to mix with better educated and better spoken people than myself. No harm at all...
