My car has been making this grinding sound that gets worse when accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear. When in neutral the sound isn't as loud but disappears once the clutch is depressed and comes back once it is released. I recently had a new clutch fitted as I was informed that was what was making the noise. However, after two days the sound was back as bad as before and I now believe it is a bad input shaft bearing. My mpg is stupidly low for a 1.25 (according to computer in car it varies from 25 - 32 mpg as it constantly changes).

Any help is very much appreciated as I've now spent a lot of money trying to get the car running well.
