Booked a holiday today! Two weeks with wifey and youngest grandchild.
First time in 30years of self-employment I have had two weeks off at once. Normal holiday for me is one week a year!

Yep when you thing about it! It is a bit sad.
For the last 28 years to be exact, I have been having one week off with my wife and we go abroad together. And I have paid for another weeks holiday a year for wifey to take the kids and grandkids away while I have stayed home and worked.
It is the downside to self employment. Very little holiday.
What do the rest of you do about holidays

I don't really like 'sunshine' holidays they just bore me but wife loves them, so usually I go away a few times a year and visit car museums or see a sight somewhere and wifey goes away to the sun, best of both worlds, then again if I don't get away I can cope fine

To be honest, wifey is more interested in holidays than I am.
Bottom line is, I am so busy at work, I never really spend too much time with wifey.
So time spent together is what I like! Would not bother me if we went abroad or went on a caravan holiday here.
I don't take my mobile on holiday! I don't want to know what has gone wrong when I am away.

I'm not one for holidays.. We've had one holiday to Tenerife in the last 10 years! That was for a week. I tend to have a long weekend or a few days away in the caravan without phones

Yes, it is difficult when you're self employed. During the time I've been self employed I've not had that many holidays, although I have had a fortnight away before - the last time was Cape Verde - nice if you like relaxing in the sun, but there's nowt there!! We're going to IOW for 2 weeks this August, the 1st week being Cowes week. I'm quite looking forward to it.
Where are you going?

I like a place called Puerto Calero on Lanzarote of all places, nice hotel (no Brits as they are all up the road in Puerto Del Carmen), Calero has a couple of 4/5 star hotels and some great bars and restraunts catering to the luxury boats and is the nicest marina in the Canary Islands. I know the Island very well and pick a car up at the airport and just use the place to chill for a week or two.
Florida is cool but not relaxing at all, Italy is very nice particularly Scicily.

Wanted to go there this year, but daughter was heavily pregnant so went to Cornwall instead We go in January as it's the quietest time of year for me
