I very nearly bought a KVM switch unit like the one you linked, then at the last minute it fell through - I don't know why.
It was just as well, as I had a nagging doubt in the back of my mind, which I checked-on this evening; the laptop is so new, it only has HDMI interface for external monitoring, yet I'm using a fairly old M93p Tiny unit that only has either a DisplayPort or a straight VGA connector (which is what I'm using). So the monitor side of things might be a problem at this stage, unless I elect to use a second lead directly into the monitor (which does have HDMI, I believe) and make the switch from PC to PC via the on-screen menu.
Some of the KVM switches are quite fancy, and have auxiliary USB ports for each PC to switch between - that could be useful for this monitor, as the touchscreen function needs a USB connection in parallel to the video - so I might have a punt on one of that kind!

Great project! - Must be fully operational and battle scarred by now, though that trolley looks pretty tough.
Thanks for the heads up on the Lenovo M93p Tiny, looking for a small desktop to go on the (as yet only thought about) electronics work station

It is still very much a work-in-progress! I'm still collecting bits for it.....
I did take a picture of it in action with the Mitsubishi Outlander a couple of days ago, but sadly on my mobile phone which takes a whiley to get the photos transferred.

I'm still at it, but some of the bits I bought for the boom and pillar assembly have been re-purposed for my electrical room; I needed a boom to carry my inspection microscope for ECU rework, etc.
Even so, I still ended-up making some odd bits for the end of the boom - it turns-out that musical equipment is not all Metric-Course threading, for a start......so I had to use the adapters that came with the boom, and bore-out an old Landrover wheel-bearing to carry the microscope head itself (single grub-screw tapped into the side of it, to ensure no movement between microscope and boom), then weld the dissimilar materials as best as possible. It turned-out OK in the end....
The end-result is not as good as the equipment I could have bought online, but as long as you don't knock into the microscope head with tools or the back of the soldering-iron, it suffices for my purposes.
So I'm back to Plan_A for the boom design on the trolley.
