I worked there for 18 months driving for Royal Mail, a very dark period in my life.... only made worse by living in a mostly converted barn in Walpole St. Andrew - still, I learnt some very handy eastern European phrases to top-up my list of international insults
ETA - Moto Bins, I remember them!, basically 'Smashey & Nicey' in stores operative form, they have/had a PC from the early 90's (probably a 386) to 'process' all the orders on, except it's too busy trying to transcode some internet rock station to the sound card to print all the postage labels in time, so I had to stand there for >10 mins every. feckin. collection. with someone with Parkinsons playing a guitar through a PC speaker whilst a drumkit was thrown down two flights of stairs next door...
They were nice blokes, just what they were paid to do was always second fiddle to their first love of 'music'

"Walpole St. Andrew" to King's Lynn where I live is 9.6miles by road. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walpole,_Norfolk Smart church is the highlight of Walpole. Walpole is flat fen land - nothing going on really. How did you end up there? OldGit? Back and behond? (Shame I did not know you then - could have had a night out - break the boredom).

It’s the fens mate, a bit like the twilight zone 😂, I don’t fit in that well sometimes having lived in “the big smoke” of Lincoln for a little while, well that & only having 4 fingers & 1 thumb on each hand & no webbing to speak of on either 🤪

The "Fens" - it is a bit backward. For central England - there are some remote places - every road is called a "drove" and you can drive for miles and miles in straight lines to find only one house at the bottom of a drove. Not ever seen anybody with webbed fingers - but you can tell which people come from certain areas of the fens - they have a "similar look to the them". Whole villages look like one extended family. But the deep fens - is definitely the home of the "flat earthers" for sure.

Well Motobins have upped their game a bit since then, placed an order Friday afternoon and it was dispatched within an hour

Smart church is the highlight of Walpole. Walpole is flat fen land - nothing going on really. How did you end up there? OldGit ? Back and behond? (Shame I did not know you then - could have had a night out - break the boredom). Long & tortuous story involving 1st. Ex. removing all the 000's from my bank account, 2nd. Ex., after persuading me to move in with her and her 'odd' kids, rented a even odder house in Sutton Bridge (I know, I know....) turned out to be a manic-depressive and not taking meds... took out credit cards & loans with my details and ran up £42k - then made up some story of me abusing her (it was the other way round as plod noted at the time), I ended up living in a tent behind the Cafe on the A17 whilst I got enough money together to rent a flat, first one that would take me, due to a suddenly bad credit rating..... Was in Walpole St. Andrew, took me a while to get myself sorted out - and TBH I was thankful for it being quiet & out of the way, I didn't need people or debt agencies sticking their neb in, given that all the above took me from 'hero to zero' in about 18 months but a lot longer to sort out.
Still, Ex. No.1 has been prosecuted for claiming social whilst having (my) savings over the permitted limit and neglecting to tell them she was only a 'single parent' because I was working overseas... and is still paying back £36k Ex. No.2 is now dead - nothing to do with me, from Sepsis - again, from not taking meds. I was probably more cheerful about it than I should have been when her psycho daughter contacted me asking if I'd like to make a 'donation' to her funeral costs (I might have offered to send a bottle of pi$$ she could pour onto the grave) which was responded to with a fit of laughter before terminating the call, and changing my number.
