I was hoping to book a MOT appointment in the next day or two and just discovered that my rear wiper blade is split, is this a fail? I have ordered a new one but it will not be arriving for a few days because it is not in stock locally.

As far as I understand you only need to reject a windscreen wiper if it’s clearly damaged or worn. Defect Category (a) Wiper not operating or missing Major. (b) Wiper blade: (i) defective minor. (ii) missing or obviously not clearing the windscreen major. So it depends on whether the wipers are able to clear the screen or not? Rear wiper blades are not testable so you should be ok.

"Rear wiper blades are not testable so you should be ok." Plus one for the above.

Hmmm, depends on how fast you are reversing when you hit the rollers, I think?
EDIT : I should point-out that this is tongue-in-cheek, in tribute to the original joke about the USA cop attending a car-accident where the victim had smashed into the back of another car - maybe for another day!
