Anyone know of a fault where the oil pump has the the gears chewed up on these 4x4s.
the year is a 54 plate had a re-con engine as the old one threw a con rod out the side of block.
this re-con lump has gone though two pumps both times the gear as been chewed up.
engine has done less than 2000 miles since re-build

I can't be specific I'm afraid as I don't know much about these, but I'm sure I've heard someone talking about this problem somewhere else.

Is it a complete engine? Short motor? Has the original engine been overhauled? Do the original engine number and replacement match? Who has carried out rebuild? What condition are the other teeth on the drive assembly? Sorry not familiar with these

These engines can have excessive vibration on the geartrain if the friction gears are faulty ,

thanks mac 57 all i know is the old lump was U/S so a full re-con lump was got and was fitted about two weeks after the re-con engine was fitted the oil pumps teeth was stripped and it is on the second one which has gone the same way.
