My parents want me to go and view a 2017 Yaris hybrid they've got their eye on. 17k miles and the spec my mum wants (Auto lights/wipers mainly).
Is there anything specific to look out for on the hybrid powertrain side?

Orange cables joking. As you know they are being talked about in the press and government are banning them in the future they say. We don't see any in the garage as of yet with problems so they are still in their infant stages yet.

It might be a good idea to contact the local Toyota dealer near you and ask if any recall or campaigns are actioned against your car?
Toyota has today announced a recall of 138,000 Yaris, Auris, RAV4 and Corolla cars in the UK. This involves the electrical contact in the driver's side Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), which may over time come to feel 'notchy' or sticky during operation.

My mum's keen on a hybrid for some reason, but I'm thinking it'll give them better MPG pottering around the countryside than the current petrol will, but without the hassle of running a modern diesel over low mileages.

Update, they went for the car and while mum really likes it (as she slowly gets used to two pedal driving) my dad isn't so pleased as he misses the "hooligan" nature of the old Fiesta ecoboost with its big slug of turbo torque.
The only issue I have with it is trying to get used to the CVT transmission, every time I mash the pedal I think the clutch is slipping and I back off!

On another forum there’s mention of a Yaris GR, 240bhp and 4wd?

On another forum there’s mention of a Yaris GR, 240bhp and 4wd? I'm sure dad would love it and mum would hammer it over the mountains at full power, however I think its a bit beyond their price range! That said, we're all big Elfyn Evans fans around here so we're on the lookout for some stickers for the motor
