The mrs motor failed its MOT today on a variety of things as listed below.
1. Stop lamps not working n/s/r 2 position lamp not working n/s/f 3. Anti roll bar ball joint worn (drop links) 4. Offside front outer sill holed and corroded
Now I can probably sort out the 1/2/3 but rotten sill I can't been quoted at least £3-400 quid which I thought was tad high
Is the price reasonable or is it me being tight😁😁😁😁
And if anyone who's based within the basildon area (Essex) who could do and want the job, let me know.
Cheers

Photo of the corroded area would help members to assess the extent of your repair

WE charge £60 to a £100 to patch and underseal small holes in sills.
To replace the whole sill we charge £250 to £400 and then cover to colour.

Looks like an £80 job here - from photo - which is not the same as digging a screwdriver into it - along the length of the sill. Bet the car is French to go at the front of sills.Cars from Japan go at the rear of the sills. Don't know why....?

Chaps I've tried to add more photos but I'm not very good with mobile phones Yes it is French, Citroen Xsara Picasso I've had a look this morning, it rotted about the length of the drivers door, passenger door seems solid at the mo but I don't know what's underneath, personally I'd put a new sill on but I ain't no panel beater or bodywork expert, if your Units / Garages are close to Basildon, you can always come and have a look. Cheers

Sorry mate I am in Norfolk.
Was a good guess thou - car being French.
To be honest - based on the fact the hole is gonna be two foot in length ish - the original quote at £300 - 400 was not too far out of the way. You will get another year out of it.
Give the job to the original garage - you were not getting robbed.

Citroen c3's rot catastrophically from the rear end of the sill forwards, the only thing holding them together seems to be the body sealant welded plenty. For original poster, obviously the labour content cost of repairs can vary immensely depending on local overheads / market demands as well

and if body panels also stop being manufactured... Hopefully all sorted by Wednesday of next week, I've found someone to do the work for £120 obviously that's not with a new sill, said he can patch it, then be my guest, as long as it gets thru the MOT retest. Changed the drop links today, so a few bulbs and were good to go for the welding. Cheers👍👍👍👍
