Had the engine bay painted on my XR3i and as its a rolling shell I left the steering rack on. I have a new rack to go on but need to paint the bulkhead where the original rack was. its basically a small area where the brackets bolt to the car. The car has been stored for a couple of years since the bodywork was done. So now I have got round to rebuilding the car I need to paint that small area where the brackets were. I have been told to use a "leveller". I have prepped the area with a rub down and an etch primer, so just need the top coat to go on. With this leveller do I spray the red top coat and then spray the leveller only where the new paint meets the old. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Attachment Deleted

If it were me I'd be inclined to ask the bodyshop that painted it for you. They should be in a good position to advise.
