No and I never knew such a tool existed until now, so the UK version is in my favorites list now

Why not just put spring compressors on the strut under the arch?

Unless I am being thick... You are gonna want a set of five tread steps to use this.
Stick a car on a ramp - stick the strut on a transmission jack using this tool - when it comes to refit the mount nuts in the inner wing you are gonna need steps.
Only thing this would be any good for is the front of a VW Touareg, but to be honest everybody uses a cheap endless ratchet strap around the top wishbone and threads it thru the strut where the drop link attaches.
I have seen a better thing that goes on the wishbone and attaches to strut and threads up - then you can lower the car on a ramp and refit top bolts.
(might just be easier to ask someone to hold strut up for you - then spend £90 on something else)

I think it's so you can get the knuckle free from and back onto the strut on vehicles where the suspension set up won't allow enough drop without bottom arms reaching the end of their travel. So in theory you should be able to lower the car attach the strut to the vehicle at it's upper attachment, then you can send the vehicle to working height and use this tool to send the strut up enough to allow refitting if the other parts. I think this idea of tooling would be really handy as there are quite a few carsbtgat we do springs on that are a pain in the are a due to suspension bottoming out. VAG models. Various French models.

The car the other day was awkward as I couldn't get the driveshaft out the hub. Edit someone beat me to it with a better description

In a nut shell what I believe you are saying here is that the tool allows the strut to be compressed while fitted and allows vertical movement to provide free working space for the lower suspension arm deflection, which is limited on some designs.

Firstly, damn my typing is bad when I use my phone to post on here, what with the small keys on screen and auto correct its a wonder what I posted makes any sense at all. Yeah Guardian, that is the nutshell cracked. My only concern would be if there could be any danger of the car lifting off the pads on a 2 post lift.

I would put a large axle stand or another transmission jack under the back if looks iffy.
Just reading instruction for the last one and it says to support the strut and not to compress the spring, The first one shown is to lift though.

I look forward to seeing how this equipment fares in the workshop, it could be a real time saver tbh.
